Brandon Belt, ESPN is waiting for you...

From how things look, molten magma-hot 1B/OF prospect Brandon Belt will start this year in at Triple A Fresno, and probably join the big league club around June. This is a smart move for a few reasons (like $$$, also $$$, probably $$$, and even if those prove to be untrue, $$$).

However, the loss to the big-league club in the interim will lie mostly in the delay of his inevitably-legendary name's insertion into various highlights.

It's like a curse, really...a guy that will play major league baseball for a living and has the capability of hitting a lot of home runs also has a last name that doubles as slang to describe what a hitter does to the ball when he hits a home run.

Let's project all the corny highlight lines that will be used to describe his home runs when he finally gets here and, of course*, starts hitting them by the truckload:

• "And Brandon BELTS one over the right field wall!"
• "And Brandon likes his pitches BELT high..."
• "Whoa, he hit that one to the asteroid BELT!"
• "That's the second one he's hit tonight off of their starter...another notch in his BELT!"

These types of puns are simply inevitable, and the poor lad has probably heard them all dozens of times already. Well, here at Orange & Black Baseball, at least, he won't have to worry about that happening!
